Sewardly (day in the life)

A Term, coined by friend Tom Nguyen, to describe a genre of film that depicts the events of a single day in an extreme non-narrative fashion, and not necessarily in chronological order. We honestly have no idea how films such as this would be received by a stranger. Do you feel like you know us? Do you envy our life? Did you really sit through the whole thing? Probably not, but any ways this video includes Myself, Bryan Freitas, Jon Huffman, Tom Nguyen, Nicole is in there for a bit, and John Holdun shot and edited it.
enjoy!

Some Blogs to Pass the Time.

Not doing much right now? I just finished that cellphone video, and I'm waiting for my check to come in from nestle before I go out and buy a new camcorder. In the mean time I've been doing a lot of nothing.
So I though I'd share that with you.

Useful
LifeHack.org is a great place to get advice on those everyday problems, i.e. how to fix/make stuff, advice on money and relationships, and just about anything else that has to do with living in today's stressful world.

Fun
Stuff White People Like. Let's be honest, it's funny because it's true. some of my favorite entrys are, Threatening to Move to Canada, Indie Music, and Japan, and yes, I do like all those things. It's kind of depressing to learn how stereotypically white you are.

Interesting
20 Ways the World could End. This is an article in a Magazine's Ezine. That's kind of like a ancient distant cousin of a blog right? Anyways, the title is pretty self explanatory; this article points out 20 scientifically sound ways the earth could be destroyed at any given moment.

In the Spirit of April Fools Day.

Here a link to Lifehacker's Top 10 harmless Geek Pranks. There's some pretty good ones here that I'm going to have to try out today for sure. Also, check out some of LifeHackers other stuff, it's a pretty great Technews Blog, that and Gizmodo are my two main sources

Online Video Contest Source

There sure are a lot of opportunities out there to make films and get paid. In fact, thanks to the internet, many video contests take place completely online. I just wish there was a place where i could find out about all of them, googling "video contest" doesn't usually amount to anything but a bunch of contests that expired in 2005.

Luckily, you know me, and I'm nice enough to link you here, -> onlinevideocontests.com. This is a great blog that organizes what has to be very close to all the currently running video contests. The contests can be organized by prize money, deadline, or recency of being added.

Xlnt Ads is xlnt.

So what we've been doing most recently is working with the site XLNTAds.com. Xlnt Ads is a company/site which connects companies looking to advertise products or what ever to a humble user base of creators. John and I are a few of these humble creators. Right now they've got a bunch of assignments and the ones we're pulling for are Bud Light, and Nestle's 100 Grand, once we're done with our bud light spot we'll probably start working on a couple Proquo spots.

So check 'em out, and be our competition, a lot of the time there is $5,000+ at stake.
Oh yeah, their blog is pretty cool, the update it with a lot of "creative inspiration" that's pretty great.

What is Whaling Ship Studios?

Whaling Ship Studios is how filmmakers get their start. We are two 19 year dudes, one the dramatic writing program at NYU and one currently stuck in Ohio trying to get into the Film Program at NYU. We are getting our feet off the ground the only way we know how to; one of the purposes of this blog is to document our beginnings and help other budding film makers get an idea of how to start.

We'll of course post about what we're up to I.E. current projects, scripts, and other dailies. And also link you guys to everything we know. I.E Tutorials, Contests, or other cool stuff. Feedback is awesome, and of course if anyone has anything they'd like to link us to that'd be appreciated. With all that said, I've been spending too much time blogging and need to get back to compositing.
